We have a fantastic opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our healthcare team at HMP Leicester, a category B remand prison based close to Leicester town centre and train station. The Prison houses around 329 male patients, the majority of whom are aged between 18-40 years of age.

HMP Leicester runs a nurse lead service, you will be working with an experienced and supportive multi-disciplinary team including an substance misuse specialist NMP. Your role will be focused on supporting patients with substance misuse and acute needs, suitable applicant must have experience and feel confident prescribing controlled substance.

Hours

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 4pm to 8pm

Saturday 2pm-6pm

This position is part-time working 20 hours per week

Salary

You’ll receive an annual salary up to £129,500 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

During my GP training the part which I enjoyed the most was the out-of-hours (OOH) element with Harmoni (which later became Care UK, now the Practice Plus Group). With no administrative tasks, bloods to file, documents to check, it was as close to the acute care as a GP could get. I was very well supported by Practice Plus Group during this time and was able to excel and make a mark.
