We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our healthcare team at Derwentside IRC. Derwentside IRC is an Immigration Removal Centre based in Consett, County Durham. The site supports up to 80 women aged 18+ with primary care, mental health and substance misuse service. GP sessions are similar to those in community and focus mainly on acute needs with a holistic and trauma informed approach.

Hours

Our service operates 7 days a week (Mon - Sun).

AM: 08:00 - 12:00
PM: 13:00 - 17:00

This is a part-time working 28 hours per week (7 x 4-hour sessions).

The sessions can be worked flexibly (though ideally on a Tues and Thurs) on a rota, such as 3.5 full days or spread across 4-5 days.

Salary

You’ll receive an annual salary up to £125,000 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

During my GP training the part which I enjoyed the most was the out-of-hours (OOH) element with Harmoni (which later became Care UK, now the Practice Plus Group). With no administrative tasks, bloods to file, documents to check, it was as close to the acute care as a GP could get. I was very well supported by Practice Plus Group during this time and was able to excel and make a mark.
