Healthcare Assistant (Nights) – HMP Altcourse
Salary - £25,557 - £29,723 per annum
Our team is expanding, and we are looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join our Primary Care team, working nights.
Please be aware that your first month will be on day shifts for training and integration, then move to nights. You will complete one week of day shifts eery quarter.
Healthcare Assistants play a vital role in delivering safe, effective care and supporting each patient’s health journey.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will support a range of duties overnight, including:
- Support the registered nurse on the night shift on emergency response and personal care as needed
- Carry out administrative tasks such as updating records and data inputting
- You will be ILS (Immediate Life Support) trained by us onsite, as well as NEWS2
- Assist with admissions into the prison if required, carrying out blood pressure checks
- Acting as pharmacy second checker and assisting with medication rounds
What We’re Looking For
- Someone with care experience, whether this is in a care home, community based, hospital etc - we would love to hear from you!
- Care Certificate and/or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care
- IT literate
- A resilient, proactive, and enthusiastic approach to patient care
- Ability to work effectively in a secure and fast‑paced environment
About HMP Altcourse
HMP Altcourse is the busiest remand prison in England, accommodating approximately 1,160 adult males with an average stay of 10 weeks. Practice Plus Group provides primary care and substance misuse services across eight wings, clinic areas, inpatient facilities, and reception services.
Working Pattern
Please note, this role requires flexibility and will include unsociable hours, such as weekends and night shifts.
The working pattern is 7 nights on, 7 nights off, shifts are 19:45 - 07:15.
